Retail Barista

We’re looking for passionate food and coffee lovers to join our team. The ideal barista is someone who is excited about coffee, food and creating remarkable guest experiences. Prior coffee, or food-service experience helps but it's not a requirement. We're more interested in who you are and what you makes you tick. The latte art and slinging-spro thing comes later, and with plenty of practice.

You Will

  • Deliver exemplary hospitality to our guests and your fellow teammates

  • Work in a team to "dial-in" a variety of different brewing methods and serve our delicious coffees and other drink offerings

  • Develop your coffee palate and stay knowledgeable about Spur’s current coffee and food offerings through tastings, cuppings and information provided to you

  • Ensure quality and uphold Spur standards you should taste your own and team members’ drinks

  • Maintain coffee knowledge on current offerings and confidently and accurately communicate product information to customers

  • Prep, plate and serve food

  • Respond graciously to questions, orders, and concerns.

  • Support your team in keeping the cafe running smoothly and beautifully - these tasks include cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning

  • Support a positive work environment

  • Accurately process transactions in the POS system

  • Handle and maintain all equipment with respect and appreciation

  • Communicate with team members and management to solve problems and improve service

  • Offer relevant, well thought out ideas and suggestions for improving store operations.

  • Attend all individual and company scheduled training sessions and staff meetings to constantly advance education on coffee, tea, merchandise, and espresso bar skills

  • Complete other duties as assigned

You Have

  • Basic math and computer skills

  • Eligible to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older

  • The ability to read and speak English proficiently

  • A strong attention to detail and a healthy respect for cleanliness and sanitation

  • A flexible schedule

    • Saturdays & Sundays are required days of availability

    • Work Hours - Varies dependent upon weekly schedule

    • Hours are extended when work load is increased

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit - use hands to handle or feel - reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch

  • Perform repetitive motion with your hands, wrists and forearms to operate espresso and brewing equipment

  • Taste and smell—ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee, tea and food

  • Talk and hear—frequently communicate with customers

  • Carry weight, lift – lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
